Geely Rockingham Launches the Shacks Spark Initiative: Powering Support for Our Volunteer Fire & Rescue Services banner

Western Australia has endured a fire season that has pushed communities — and our emergency services — to their limits. Across 2024–25, WA recorded 5,191 bushfires, burning through more than 754,366 hectares of land. With 60 per cent of these fires occurring between November and April, the risk remains high as we move through the peak of the season.

Here in Rockingham, the Warnbro fires were a confronting reminder of how quickly conditions can change. Many Geely Rockingham customers, staff, and families were directly affected, reinforcing just how vital our Volunteer Fire & Rescue Services are to the safety and resilience of our region.

A Fire Season That Shows the Scale of the Challenge

November 2025 alone saw 189 fires across the metropolitan area.

Among the most significant:

  • A blaze at Wireless Hill in Ardross, burning more than 10 hectares and requiring 27 fire trucks and aerial support
  • A major fire in Aubin Grove, burning 20 hectares and threatening nearby homes — the first major urban‑area fire of the season

At WA’s summer fire response announcement, Fire and Emergency Services Commissioner Darren Klemm highlighted the reality we face:

“Some 93 per cent of WA is bushfire prone and every year we have approximately 4000 bushfires.”

With so much of our state at risk, the role of our volunteers has never been more critical.

Our Commitment: The Shacks Spark Initiative

In response, Geely Rockingham — together with the Shacks Motor Group — is proud to be part of the Shacks Spark Initiative, a group‑wide effort to support the volunteers who protect our community.

From February 1 to April 30, $50 from every new vehicle sold across our group will be donated directly to the Volunteer Fire & Rescue Services of WA. Our goal is to raise $12,000 over the three‑month period.

This initiative is our way of giving back to the people who give everything — often at a moment’s notice — to keep our communities safe.

A Legacy of Service, A Future of Support

The Shacks Motor Group has proudly served Western Australians for over 100 years, and Rockingham and its wider surrounds since 1972. Community connection has always been at the heart of our story — and supporting our VFRS volunteers is a continuation of that commitment.

At Geely Rockingham, we believe in innovation with purpose. Supporting the volunteers who protect our region is part of building a safer, stronger future for everyone.

How You Can Help Spark Change

Every new Geely purchased during this period contributes directly to the volunteers who stand on the front line of WA’s bushfire response. Even if you’re not in the market for a vehicle, helping us share the message amplifies the impact.

Together, we can help fuel the efforts of the people who protect our homes, our families, and our community.

Geely Rockingham — proud to support the Volunteer Fire & Rescue Services of WA through the Shacks Spark Initiative.
